Recently, for the first time, I ran a 30% off campaign and it did work well. But it felt wrong to me. It felt unauthentic. I don't want to increase the perceived value by having a higher price tag. Whoever tried our products could see and literally feel the value of the product. And I also don't want our products to be accessible only during sales campaigns. I want them to be accessible throughout the year, without all those “discount games”.
Long story short, we are lowering our prices by 30%. This will still leave us a feasible margin while making our products more accessible. Plus, we will not be running any sales events and discounting more than 5-10%.
Dear customers, thank you for choosing our products! We never take a single purchase for granted. Please email us if you have bought from us before the price change. We will refund you a difference or provide store credits whichever option you prefer. Thank you again! And hope this price change will make buying new OMG products even more enjoyable.
My journey as an entrepreneur is teaching me many lessons, but the most important thing I realized is that I shouldn`t do anything that is not aligned with my beliefs and values.
I get a lot of advice, some of them are super helpful and valuable. While some sound logical but against what we value as a brand. Like, “you should be making liquid shampoos, nobody wants solid ones” or “use the plastic box, you are sustainable in all other aspects”. I mean probably that is true, a lot of people don't even realize that shampoo can be solid let alone wanting solid shampoo. But, it is our job to make people want the solid bars and stop creating unnecessary waste. It is our job as a brand to create bars that will be so good so they never want to get back to traditional shampoo. Yes, the advice is logical, but it has nothing to do with our values. “Everyone has an opinion, do your own thing anyway” - I shall put this as a reminder.
Thank you for supporting us. I feel so much better now when I see that the pricing is also aligned with the values.
